About Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is based on four basic scientific facts;

  1. The nervous system is the master system of the body and controls the growth, development and function of every cell, tissue and organ in the body.
  2. Pressure or tension on the nervous system will interfere with the message traveling between the brain and the rest of the body and this will impair the optimal function, repair and overall health of the individual. For example, nerve pressure on nerves going to the lungs could eventually result in breathing problems such as asthma.
  3. Physical, chemical and mental stresses and traumas cause the spine to misalign and this will put damaging tension on the nervous system. Chiropractors call this a subluxation.
  4. Chiropractic care corrects these subluxations through specific adjustments to the spine, thus reducing the tension on the nerves and allowing the body to heal itself.

What is an Adjustment?

There are many ways of adjusting the spine. Some involve a physical movement of the joints between two spinal bones (Diversified Technique), resulting in the popping sound that people are so familiar with. Other techniques use light force that do not cause any sound (Torque Release Technique). Both techniques work! It all comes down to the intent of the chiropractor in releasing stresses to your nervous system caused by a subluxation.

I use a variety of different Chiropractic techniques depending on the needs of the individual patient. The technique I use on an infant would naturally be different than those used on an adult or senior.

Although the majority of our patients respond very well to care, the degree of improvement varies from person to person as a result of their individual history and health habits.

Who can get Adjusted?

We treat everyone in your family - at all stages of life. Different techniques are used for infants and children, pregnant women or seniors.

How often do I need to get Adjusted?

The answer to this question depends on how healthy you’d like to be. Although most people only think of Chiropractic as a treatment for neck and back pain, it has a lot more to offer to you and your family. Due to the close relationship between our spine and nervous system, our entire body’s functioning, from our ability to heal to the efficiency of our immune system, can be affected by a subluxation which develop during day to day living. Regular visits to the chiropractor will help to keep your nervous system functioning at its optimal level and allow you to experience greater health and well being over a lifetime.

I typically see my own chiropractor every two weeks - or more frequently if necessary - in order to keep my own nervous system working at its best so I can serve you better.

How much care you choose is up to you and your personal choice will always be honoured, whether it is acute care, corrective care or wellness care.
